IBM and AMD Collaborate with Zyphra on AI Infrastructure

IBM and AMD have announced a collaboration with Zyphra to deliver advanced AI infrastructure using AMD Instinct MI300X GPUs on IBM Cloud, as stated in a press release.

IBM and AMD have announced a collaboration with Zyphra to deliver advanced AI infrastructure. In a press release, it was revealed that under a multi-year agreement, IBM will provide Zyphra with a large cluster of AMD Instinct MI300X GPUs on IBM Cloud. This infrastructure will be used to train frontier multimodal foundation models.

Zyphra, an open-source AI research company, recently closed a Series A financing round at a $1 billion valuation. The collaboration with IBM and AMD will support Zyphra's development of a general-purpose superagent named Maia, designed to enhance productivity for knowledge workers across enterprises.

This partnership marks the first large-scale deployment of AMD's full-stack training platform on IBM Cloud, integrating compute and networking capabilities. The initial deployment was made available to Zyphra in early September, with plans for expansion in 2026.
