Huawei Proposes AI Data Center Focused Network Architecture

Oct 15, 2026
Huawei proposed rebuilding telecom networks around AI data centers, expanding services beyond bandwidth, and using AI across network operations.

Huawei proposed rebuilding telecom networks around AI data centers during Network X 2026 in Vienna, as the company said in a press release. Bob Chen, president of Huawei's Optical Business Product Line, described three priorities: rebuilding network architecture, reshaping business models, and redefining network operations and maintenance.

The proposed architecture organizes core, regional, and edge data centers through direct connections, with latency targets of 1, 5, and 20 milliseconds. Huawei also proposed enterprise services that combine bandwidth, latency, reliability, computing, and AI applications, alongside home services covering whole home WiFi, smart devices, and AI agents.

For network operations, Huawei described using AI across planning, construction, maintenance, optimization, and service management. The company said AI based WiFi tuning can improve speeds by about 20 percent in environments with interference, while dynamic power adjustments can reduce equipment energy use by more than 20 percent. It also outlined AI agents for automatic fault repair, remote configuration, and fault location during site visits.
