Huawei Proposes AI Optical Network at MWC Barcelona 2025

Huawei's Bob Chen introduced the AI Optical Network (AI ON) concept at MWC Barcelona 2025, aiming to enhance connectivity in the AI era.

Huawei has introduced the concept of AI Optical Network (AI ON) at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2025, announced in a press release. Bob Chen, President of Huawei Optical Business Product Line, outlined the evolution towards AI ON, which aims to provide 5A-quality connectivity to support AI growth.

The AI ON initiative is characterized by five key features: Awareness, Always On Demand, Assurance, Autonomous O&M, and AI Native. These features are designed to ensure that future optical networks can accurately identify service types, provide differentiated connectivity, guarantee high-quality service, and integrate AI capabilities across network systems.

Chen emphasized that since the release of the target network for the AI era in 2024, Huawei has been collaborating with global customers to drive innovation in optical networks. The AI ON concept is expected to lay a robust foundation for AI growth and prosperity, offering premium connectivity essential for the ICT industry's advancement.
