Honeywell to Provide Digital Solutions for Dangote Refinery in Nigeria

April 13, 2026
Honeywell announced it will supply connected services, digital monitoring, and operator training to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Nigeria to improve efficiency and output at the world's largest single-train refinery.

Honeywell will supply connected services, digital performance monitoring, and workforce training to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lekki, Nigeria, announced in a press release. The collaboration aims to enhance operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and fuel production capacity at Africa’s largest refinery.

Honeywell’s Performance+ Services, part of its Connected Solutions ecosystem, will be implemented across the refinery’s core processing units to optimize the production of high-octane fuels. The services will use the Honeywell Forge platform and support from Honeywell UOP engineers to deliver real-time insights that help identify and resolve operational issues.

The company will also deliver Operator Training Simulators built using digital twins of the refinery’s facilities. These simulators will allow staff to practice real-world scenarios safely and improve operational readiness. The Dangote facility, which produces Euro-V quality fuels and polypropylene, employs over 3,000 Nigerian workers and is designed to meet the country’s domestic fuel needs while maintaining export capacity.

Honeywell and Dangote have collaborated for nearly a decade. The partnership also includes plans to expand the refinery’s capacity from 650,000 to 1.4 million barrels per day within three years.
