Google in Early Talks to Increase Investment in Anthropic
Google is in early discussions to expand its investment in Anthropic, the San Francisco-based AI company behind the Claude language model. The potential new funding round could value Anthropic at more than $350 billion.
The talks are described as preliminary, with details still being negotiated. Possible structures for the investment include a strategic deal involving additional cloud computing services from Google, a convertible note, or a priced funding round expected early next year.
It is not yet clear how much Google plans to invest or whether other investors will participate in the round. Earlier this year, Google already held a significant stake in Anthropic following multiple funding rounds that have rapidly increased the company's valuation.
