Freshflow Secures €6.5M to Enhance AI-Driven Fresh Food Supply Chain

Berlin-based Freshflow has raised €6.5 million to expand its AI platform for optimizing fresh food supply chains, with backing from World Fund and others.

Freshflow, a Berlin-based AI startup, has raised €6.5 million to enhance its platform designed to optimize the fresh food supply chain. The funding round was co-led by World Fund, Capnamic, and Venture Stars, with participation from Caesar Ventures. Freshflow plans to use the capital to expand into new product categories such as dairy, meat, and bakery, and to grow its team from 24 to 50 members by 2026.

Founded in 2021 by Avik Mukhija, Freshflow aims to reduce food waste in supermarkets by using AI to automate daily ordering decisions for fresh produce. The platform has already been adopted by major retailers like Carrefour, Edeka, and Intermarché, leading to a reported 20% reduction in food waste and a 2-5% increase in revenue.

Freshflow's AI system is tailored to address the unique challenges of ultra-fresh products, such as quality variations and short shelf lives. It integrates into existing supermarket systems to transform ordering from a guesswork process into a precise operation, considering factors like store layout and spoilage risk. With this new funding, Freshflow is set to continue its expansion across Europe, aiming to create a more efficient and climate-friendly fresh food supply chain.
