Form.io has launched the Universal Agent Gateway (UAG), an open-source platform designed to connect AI agents, enterprise systems, and human operators through JSON-driven forms and secure workflows.

Form.io has introduced the Universal Agent Gateway (UAG), an open-source platform aimed at simplifying enterprise AI adoption, announced in a press release. The UAG extends Form.io’s existing JSON-driven Form and API platform to connect AI agents, enterprise systems, and human operators through standardized workflows.

The UAG enables developers to define and update agent context using Form.io’s drag-and-drop form builder, maintain enterprise data security through self-hosted deployment, and extend role-based access controls to AI agents. It also allows integration with existing authentication systems for secure data retrieval and routing.

According to Form.io’s CTO Travis Tidwell, the UAG’s JSON architecture provides authenticated data retrieval, governed actions, and a configurable Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for development teams. Co-founder Gary Wetzel noted that the gateway targets industries such as government, healthcare, fintech, and insurance, supporting scalable and secure AI process automation.
