Former US officials back Anthropic in Pentagon blacklist appeal

Oct 21, 2026
Seventeen former US national security officials urged the D.C. Circuit to rehear Anthropic's challenge to the Pentagon's supply chain risk designation.

A bipartisan group of 17 former senior national security officials urged the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit to grant Anthropic's request for a rehearing in its challenge to the Pentagon's supply chain risk designation, according to DefenseScoop. The group filed a 26 page legal brief on Tuesday.

The signatories include former Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines and former national security advisors Susan Rice and Jake Sullivan. They argued that the court's earlier 2 to 1 decision could allow the Pentagon to punish contractors without a lawful review process.

The Pentagon designated Anthropic as a national security supply chain risk in February after the company refused to permit unrestricted military use of its AI models. Anthropic objected to potential use for mass domestic surveillance and autonomous weapons without human control.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?

Tensordyne

This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
