Equinix Unveils Distributed AI Infrastructure for Next-Gen AI Innovation
Equinix has introduced its Distributed AI infrastructure to support the next wave of AI innovation, including agentic AI, as announced in a press release. This new infrastructure includes an AI-ready backbone for distributed AI deployments, a global AI Solutions Lab, and Fabric Intelligence to enhance next-generation workloads.
The Distributed AI infrastructure is designed to meet the unique requirements of AI, which is inherently distributed and requires distinct infrastructure for training, inferencing, and data sovereignty. Equinix's platform connects over 270 data centers across 77 markets, providing the necessary connectivity for AI systems to operate efficiently and securely.
Key features include Fabric Intelligence, a software layer that enhances Equinix Fabric with real-time awareness and automation for AI and multicloud workloads, and the AI Solutions Lab, which offers a collaborative environment for enterprises to innovate and deploy AI solutions. These offerings are expected to be available in the first quarter of 2026.
