ePlus Survey Finds AI Focus Shifting from Efficiency to Revenue Growth

October 21, 2025
A new ePlus survey shows that nearly three-quarters of IT and industry leaders now prioritize revenue growth as the main goal of their AI initiatives, surpassing cost savings and customer satisfaction.

ePlus announced in a press release the results of its AI Industry Pulse Poll, revealing that 74% of IT and industry leaders now view revenue growth as the primary objective of their AI strategies. This marks a shift away from traditional goals such as cost reduction and improved customer satisfaction.

The survey, which included 150 IT and industry leaders, found that 60% of organizations are still in early or mid-stages of AI adoption, while only 8% have fully mature AI implementations. Security remains the top concern, with 90% citing data privacy risks and 68% identifying regulatory compliance as major challenges.

Infrastructure limitations and talent shortages also emerged as key barriers. Eighty-one percent of respondents expressed concerns about their current IT infrastructure's readiness for advanced AI systems, and 52% reported difficulties finding skilled professionals to bridge technical and business needs.

The poll also explored awareness of agentic AI, with 41% of participants admitting limited familiarity. Only 26% said they are actively investing in this emerging technology, while one-third indicated they need greater understanding before committing resources.
