Epic Introduces Connectors for AI Tasks Across Health Apps
Epic is releasing Connectors, a capability that lets its software retrieve information and complete tasks in other applications, the company announced in a press release. App developers can build Connectors to link their software with Epic.
Connectors can bring external data into Epic, such as ambulance arrival times for emergency departments. They can also complete actions in other applications, including placing a hospital meal order through a dietary management system.
The capability will work with Epic's Emmie assistant for patients, Art for clinicians, Penny for revenue cycle and operations teams, and custom AI created through Agent Factory. Healthcare organizations will be able to find developer created Connectors on Epic Showroom starting in March 2027 and review their data access and permissions before enabling them.
