Elon Musk’s xAI Launches Grokipedia, an AI-Powered Encyclopedia
Elon Musk’s company xAI has launched Grokipedia, an AI-powered encyclopedia, according to the New York Times. The platform went live on October 27, 2025, and is designed as an alternative to Wikipedia.
Grokipedia uses xAI’s Grok language model to create and maintain its articles. According to Wikipedia, the site launched with around 900,000 entries, many of which are derived from freely licensed Wikipedia content under Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0. Users can suggest corrections through a feedback form, but cannot directly edit pages.
The encyclopedia is currently available in English and operates on a commercial basis with optional registration. Musk has described Grokipedia as a platform intended to remove what he calls “propaganda” from existing online information sources.
