DrillDocs and Aker BP Expand Computer Vision Deployment Across Offshore Rigs
DrillDocs and Aker BP are expanding the deployment of DrillDocs' CleanSight digital shaker surveillance system under a framework technology agreement, announced in a press release. The latest installation is on Odfjell Drilling's Deepsea Nordkapp rig, following earlier validation on the Noble Integrator.
The CleanSight system applies computer vision to monitor drilling operations by analyzing material returning to the surface. It provides data on size, shape, and quantity of cuttings, enabling crews to detect and respond to wellbore instability in near real time. The system has reduced non-productive circulating time and improved early detection of cavings, according to the companies.
The framework agreement supports further technology development between DrillDocs and Aker BP. It aims to extend CleanSight across Aker BP’s contracted rig fleet and explore additional digital solutions that enhance drilling efficiency and safety.
