Doosan Robotics Acquires ONExia to Boost AI Robotics
Doosan Robotics has acquired an 89.59% stake in the U.S.-based automation engineering firm ONExia, announced in a press release. The acquisition, valued at approximately USD 25.9 million, is part of Doosan's strategy to strengthen its position in the intelligent robotics market by integrating AI and software-based solutions.
ONExia, founded in 1984, is known for its end-to-end automation services and has a strong presence in industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and packaging. The firm has been focusing on developing collaborative robotic systems for end-of-line processes, achieving consistent sales growth in North America.
This acquisition is expected to enhance Doosan Robotics' AI capabilities by leveraging ONExia's engineering expertise and extensive automation data. In addition to this strategic move, Doosan is investing in internal R&D and recruiting specialized talent to focus on AI, software, and humanoid technologies. A new R&D Innovation Center is also set to be completed by the third quarter of this year.
