DeepSeek Releases V4.1 Flash 1017 for Coding and Agent Tasks

Oct 18, 2026
DeepSeek released an updated V4.1 Flash model with faster task completion, shorter responses, and improved coding, reasoning, agent, and vision performance.

DeepSeek released DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017, the company announced on its website. The model is available through its website, app, and API, with downloadable versions on Hugging Face and ModelScope.

DeepSeek says the model completes tasks faster and produces shorter responses than its predecessor, with improved performance across coding, reasoning, agent, and vision tasks. It uses reinforcement learning with self feedback to support complete project creation, including games and 3D models, and is optimized for DeepSeek Harness, Tencent CodeBuddy, and WorkBuddy.

The company also opened its Search and Fetch APIs to all users. Each endpoint costs $0.75 per 1,000 calls. Calls made through server side tools in DeepSeek Harness, Claude Code, and Codex are free for DeepSeek API users until billing begins on October 31, 2026, at 16:00 UTC.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?

Tensordyne

This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
