DeepSeek Reportedly Raises $15 Billion After US Restrictions
DeepSeek raised about $15 billion, or 100 billion yuan, two days after the US ordered federal civilian agencies to remove its AI technology over security concerns, TechCrunch reports, citing Bloomberg. It is one of the biggest funding rounds in China.
According to the report, potential investors include battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) and WeChat owner Tencent. The report says DeepSeek is ramping up spending on AI infrastructure and open models for domestic and international markets.
The company previously raised more than $7 billion in June at a valuation of $50 billion. In July it was reportedly seeking another $1.5 billion at a valuation of around $71 billion, with plans for a potential IPO in China as early as next year.
