Danu Robotics Raises $5 Million for Recycling Robot
Danu Robotics raised $5 million in late seed funding to commercialize its recycling sorting robot, according to TechCrunch. The Edinburgh company is already shipping the robot, called H.E.R.O.
H.E.R.O. uses a pincer claw to pick items from waste streams, rather than the suction systems used by some competing robots. Danu uses AI to improve the robot's software as it processes more material.
The company has $500,000 in signed contracts, letters of interest from two large customers, and more than 200 prospective customers in its sales pipeline. Danu plans to make the robot smaller, sturdier, and suitable for use at locations such as shopping centers, hospitals, airports, and events.
