Claude Code Detects Crypto Miner Using About 12 Mac CPU Cores
Anthropic's Claude Code detected an XMRig crypto miner on a developer's Mac while helping build a temperature monitor app, according to Tom's Hardware.
The coding agent warned that it had not installed the miner and said the XMRig process was using about 1175% CPU, equal to roughly 12 cores. The load pushed the Mac's temperature to 112 degrees.
The developer, who uses the Reddit name UntilHEX, said the malware explained the computer's poor performance.
