Clarivate to Modernize France’s National Academic Library System for Abes
Clarivate announced in a press release that the Bibliographic Agency for Higher Education (Abes) has selected the company to modernize France’s national academic library system under a multi year agreement.
Abes, which supports higher education and research institutions across France, manages the Sudoc national catalog containing over 15 million bibliographic records across 3,000 libraries. The modernization will bring together library services, resource sharing, and AI powered discovery in one cloud platform. The new system will replace existing national catalog and interlibrary loan systems used by thousands of academic institutions.
Using Clarivate’s Alma, Rapido, and Primo solutions, Abes will update how libraries manage and share materials while introducing linked data standards for improved interoperability. Clarivate currently supports over 70 academic institutions in France with similar solutions at institutional and regional levels.
