Cintana, ASU, and AWS Collaborate on Agentic AI Tools for Higher Education
Cintana Education, Arizona State University, and Amazon Web Services have announced a global collaboration to develop open-source agentic AI tools for higher education, according to a press release. The initiative aims to expand access, improve student support, and help universities innovate using AI technologies.
The project involves student developers working under the guidance of cloud experts from AWS and ASU’s AI Cloud Innovation Center. These students are designing and testing open-source AI tools to make education more accessible and personalized. The first tool in development is an agentic AI-powered support agent that assists prospective students during the admissions process.
The collaboration also plans to explore autonomous tutoring agents that provide on-demand, curriculum-aligned academic support in multiple languages. Initial pilots will take place at ASU-Cintana Alliance partner universities in the Philippines and Ecuador.
A new AI-powered sandbox environment will allow universities across the ASU-Cintana Alliance to co-develop and test solutions in real time. This setup will enable knowledge-sharing across 33 partner universities in 28 countries, reaching over 330,000 students. The partners also intend to host innovation sprints and publish open-source resources to promote responsible and scalable AI use in education.
