China Literature Reports First Half Revenue Growth as AI Animated Dramas Expand

China Literature reported RMB3.53 billion in revenue for the first half of 2026, up 10.7% year over year, with short dramas and AI animated dramas exceeding RMB430 million in revenue.

China Literature reported revenue of RMB3.53 billion for the first half of 2026, up 10.7% year over year, the company announced in a press release.

Revenue from online business fell 7.3% year over year to RMB1.84 billion. Revenue from intellectual property operations and other businesses rose 40.3% to RMB1.69 billion.

Profit attributable to equity holders was RMB135.4 million under IFRS, compared with RMB849.8 million a year earlier. On a non IFRS basis, profit attributable to equity holders was RMB258.8 million, down from RMB507.8 million in the first half of 2025. The company cited RMB300 million in tax payments by a subsidiary and a prior year disposal gain as factors in the comparison.

Revenue from short dramas and AI animated dramas exceeded RMB430 million, a 2.3 fold increase from a year earlier. The segment represented 27% of intellectual property operations revenue. China Literature said 46 AI animated drama titles each surpassed 100 million views.

The company also launched Qidian Theater in China and ToonScroll overseas for AI animated content. It introduced the Buddy series of vertical AI agents for creative industries, covering parts of the content creation process.
