Chemours Launches Opteon Refrigerants for Data Center Chillers

Chemours launched Opteon ZE and Opteon 515B for stationary chillers used in AI data centers, commercial buildings, and other large cooling environments.

Chemours has launched Opteon ZE (R-1234ze(E)) and Opteon 515B (R-515B) for stationary chiller applications, the company announced in a press release. The refrigerants are aimed at large cooling systems used in AI data centers, commercial buildings, and other mission critical environments.

Opteon ZE is a hydrofluoroolefin based refrigerant with a global warming potential of about 1 under AR5 and zero ozone depletion potential. It has an ASHRAE A2L classification and is designed for chillers cooled by air or water, commercial air conditioning, heat pumps, and data center cooling.

Opteon 515B is a refrigerant blend made of about 91.1 percent R-1234ze(E) and 8.9 percent R-227ea. It has zero ozone depletion potential, a global warming potential of about 293 under AR4, and an ASHRAE A1 classification.

Chemours said both products are available now in selected countries, with more market availability expected based on demand.
