CHAI says its typical engineering offers provide 1.5 times a candidate's current total compensation, paid in cash through salary and bonuses, according to a company press release. Candidates can exchange part of their salary for stock options.

The company cited a recent offer to a Meta engineer who earned $600,000 in annual total compensation. CHAI offered a $600,000 base salary and $300,000 in bonuses, for a total cash package of $900,000.

CHAI says its standard package consists of about 75% base salary and 25% signing and retention bonuses. The bonuses are not tied to performance ratings, signing bonuses are not subject to repayment, and second year compensation is often equal to or higher than first year compensation.
