Capstone Green Energy and MG4AI Collaborate on AI-Ready Microgrid Data Centers

September 15, 2025
Capstone Green Energy and MG4AI have partnered to develop modular AI-ready microgrid-powered data centers, combining Capstone's microturbines with MG4AI's containerized compute pods.

Capstone Green Energy has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Microgrids 4 AI (MG4AI) to develop modular AI-ready microgrid-powered data centers. This collaboration will integrate Capstone's microturbines with MG4AI's containerized compute pods.

The agreement aims to leverage Capstone's microturbines, which can operate on various fuels such as natural gas, biogas, and LPG/propane, to power MG4AI's modular Edge data centers. These data centers are designed for enterprises and organizations requiring GPU-intensive compute environments, featuring grid-independent microgrids and liquid cooling systems to enhance deployment speed and resilience.

Capstone's microturbines range from 5kW to 1MW per unit and can be scaled up to 30MW. MG4AI's approach focuses on creating turnkey data centers under 20MW, which are intended to reduce reliance on utility connections and improve energy efficiency.

The partnership reflects Capstone's strategy to expand into AI-focused deployments, addressing the growing demand for high-performance computing infrastructure. MG4AI, founded in 2025, manages the full lifecycle of microgrid buildouts, offering rapid deployment timelines of up to 12 months.
