Canvas Medical has launched Hyperscribe, an open source AI copilot designed to assist clinicians with clinical documentation and orders, announced in a press release. Hyperscribe uses ambient audio to collaboratively write clinical documentation and orders with other AI agents, leveraging the Canvas software development kit (SDK).

Key features of Hyperscribe include composable chaining, which connects different tasks within the Canvas EMR, and complete patient context, ensuring accurate and structured information. The system also offers order execution with clinical informatics guardrails and provides a real-time experience for clinicians, allowing continuous updates and edits during appointments.

Hyperscribe is currently available in beta for early adopters through an application process. The open source nature of the tool allows organizations to enhance and customize it for specific use cases, setting a new standard for AI governance in healthcare.
