Canva AI Assistant Now Automates Design Creation with Integrated Tools

Canva has expanded its AI capabilities with an upgraded assistant that can autonomously create editable designs from text prompts, reports TechCrunch. The assistant can call various tools within the platform to produce layered designs, allowing users to modify individual elements as needed.

The update introduces integrations with Slack, Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, and Zoom, enabling the AI to gather context from emails, conversations, and files. Canva has also added a web research function, allowing the assistant to browse the internet to complete tasks, and a scheduling feature that can automate repeatable workflows by creating drafts for user review.

Existing AI tools have been refined as well. The AI code generator now supports HTML imports, and users can create spreadsheets via text prompts. Canva’s Lucid Origin image-generation model is now five times faster and 30 times cheaper, while the 12V image-to-video model is seven times faster and 17 times cheaper.

The new version, Canva AI 2.0, is launching this week in research preview as the company continues to expand its enterprise offerings and prepare for a potential public listing next year.
