Calpine and CyrusOne Expand Texas Data Center Power Agreement to 400MW
Calpine Corporation and CyrusOne have completed the second phase of their power supply agreement to support a hyperscale data center adjacent to the Thad Hill Energy Center in Bosque County, Texas, announced in a press release. The new phase adds 210 megawatts (MW) of capacity to the 190MW previously agreed upon, bringing the total to 400MW.
The agreement secures power, grid connection, and land for the CyrusOne facility, which is under construction and scheduled to become operational in the fourth quarter of 2026. Calpine’s Powered Land Capabilities will provide infrastructure and grid connectivity to meet the data center’s energy demands.
According to Calpine, the partnership enables coordination between the companies to maintain grid reliability during periods of high demand. The project is expected to deliver both local economic benefits and enhanced grid stability while supporting large-scale data processing requirements in Texas.
Calpine stated that its Powered Land Capabilities suite is designed for large-load customers such as data centers, offering rapid deployment and reliable energy supply across its Texas operations.
