California Waste Solutions Adds AI Scanners at Oakland Recycling Plant

Sep 25, 2026
California Waste Solutions is installing EverestLabs AI scanners at its Oakland recycling plant and expanding optical sorting capacity at a San Jose facility.

California Waste Solutions said in a press release it is installing AI scanners from EverestLabs at its 10th Street material recovery facility in Oakland. The company is also expanding capacity for optical sorting systems from Pellenc ST at its Timothy facility in San Jose.

The AI scanners monitor material entering the recycling line, count items, record belt loads, and identify contamination. California Waste Solutions will use the resulting data to adjust operations and improve material recovery and purity.

The company also provided two garbage trucks for an Oakland community cleanup covering Union Point Park, the Home Depot area, and nearby streets. Oakland is separately using Aerbits, an aerial imagery program with AI assistance, to detect abandoned trash before it accumulates.

Tensordyne

This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
