May 30, 2026
BBVA has established a new global AI Transformation area, combining its Data unit with key technological capabilities to industrialize the creation and management of AI agents across the bank. The new division, led by Antonio Bravo, aims to speed up the development and deployment of intelligent systems that support personalized financial services.

BBVA has created a new global area called AI Transformation to advance its artificial intelligence strategy, according to a company announcement. The new division will integrate the existing Data area with technological capabilities designed to industrialize the creation, deployment, and management of AI agents across the organization.

The AI Transformation area will operate at the top level of the bank and will be led by Antonio Bravo, who takes on the role of Global Head of AI Transformation. The initiative aims to accelerate BBVA’s internal transformation and improve the efficiency of developing AI agents by establishing shared platforms and components that allow faster and more secure deployment.

Through this structure, BBVA plans to reduce the time required to develop new AI agents from months to weeks, using a shared infrastructure that supports the entire organization. The approach builds on lessons learned from earlier AI projects known as “The Eight,” which identified reusable patterns and components for agent development.

The bank intends to move from isolated AI projects to a unified ecosystem of intelligent systems that work alongside employees, enabling more personalized financial services and improved operational processes across all business areas.
