ASA Index Finds Software Testers Most Affected by AI

A new American Staffing Association index uses Anthropic and O*NET data to measure how much AI automates or augments tasks across occupations.

American Staffing Association introduced an AI Impact Index that measures how much artificial intelligence automates or augments tasks across occupations. The index combines data from Anthropic and the US Department of Labor's O*NET, weighting each task according to its importance within a job.

Software quality assurance analysts and testers ranked as the occupation most affected by AI automation and augmentation. Writers and authors ranked second, followed by data entry keyers.

Computer and mathematical occupations showed the greatest impact among major occupation groups, followed by office and administrative support roles and sales roles. Construction and extraction, farming, fishing and forestry, and production showed the least impact.

The index detected no automation or augmentation in 183 occupations. Of those, 43 were in construction and extraction. ASA plans to update the index as Anthropic and O*NET release new data.

ASA represents the staffing and recruiting industry and presents the index as a tool for its members to anticipate client needs. The index measures AI use in tasks, not job losses.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?

Tensordyne

This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
