Apple to Use Google's Gemini for Siri and AI Features
Apple and Google have entered a multi-year collaboration under which the next generation of Apple Foundation Models will be based on Google's Gemini models and cloud technology, announced in a press release. The partnership will support future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized version of Siri expected later this year.
According to the statement, Apple determined that Google's AI technology provides the most capable foundation for its future models. The company said that Apple Intelligence will continue to operate on Apple devices and through its Private Cloud Compute infrastructure while maintaining existing privacy standards.
The collaboration marks a notable move for Apple Inc., which has historically relied on its own technology stack. The agreement is non-exclusive, allowing Apple to pursue additional partnerships or internal developments alongside its use of Gemini.
