Apple Reportedly Developing AirTag-Sized AI Wearable Pin

Apple is developing an AI-powered wearable pin roughly the size of an AirTag, according to The Information. The device, still in early development, is said to feature two cameras, three microphones, a speaker, and wireless charging, with production reportedly targeting up to 20 million units at launch in 2027.

The pin is described as a thin, flat, circular disc with an aluminum-and-glass shell. It includes a standard and a wide-angle camera on the front, a physical button on its edge, and a magnetic charging interface similar to that of the Apple Watch. Engineers are aiming to make it only slightly thicker than an AirTag.

The wearable could function independently or connect to other Apple devices for processing, potentially integrating with an upgraded version of Siri. The project is part of a broader lineup of AI-related hardware under development by Apple, which also includes enhanced AirPods, smart glasses, and a home device with a small display and robotic base.

The move positions Apple to compete with companies such as OpenAI, which plans to launch its first AI hardware, possibly earbuds, later this year. Meta and Google are also working on AI-enabled wearables, underscoring the growing competition in this segment.
