April 25, 2026
Anthropic and NEC have formed a strategic partnership to develop secure AI solutions for Japan and train 30,000 engineers in the NEC Group, using Anthropic’s Claude models within NEC’s BluStellar Scenario framework.

Anthropic and NEC have entered into a strategic collaboration to create one of Japan’s largest AI engineering organizations, announced in a press release. NEC will deploy Anthropic’s Claude models, including Claude Opus 4.7, to approximately 30,000 employees across the NEC Group worldwide.

Under the partnership, NEC becomes Anthropic’s first Japan-based global partner. The two companies will jointly develop secure, industry-specific AI tools for sectors such as finance, manufacturing, and local government. These tools will be integrated into NEC’s BluStellar Scenario framework, which combines consulting, AI tools, and digital infrastructure for enterprise clients.

NEC will also use Claude within its Security Operations Center services to enhance cybersecurity offerings. Internally, the company plans to establish a Center of Excellence to train AI-skilled engineers and expand its use of Claude Cowork across business operations as part of its Client Zero initiative.

The deployment marks a major step in NEC’s goal to build a large workforce capable of developing and managing AI-powered systems for both private and public sectors in Japan.
