Anthropic Commits $50 Billion to U.S. AI Infrastructure Expansion
Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has announced plans to invest $50 billion in expanding its computing infrastructure across the United States. The initiative includes the construction of new data centers in Texas and New York, designed to support the company’s research and operational requirements.
Anthropic is partnering with Fluidstack to design and build the facilities, which will be optimized for AI workloads. The rollout will begin with the two initial sites, with additional locations expected to follow. The first centers are scheduled to become operational in 2026.
The company stated that the investment aligns with the U.S. government’s AI Action Plan, which aims to strengthen national technological capacity. The project is expected to create about 800 permanent positions and more than 2,000 construction jobs.
Anthropic reported that its Claude AI models are now used by over 300,000 business clients, with a nearly sevenfold increase in enterprise accounts spending more than $100,000 annually. The company indicated that expanding infrastructure is necessary to keep pace with this demand and to support research in AI safety and interpretability.
In a related move, Anthropic recently expanded its agreement with Google Cloud to secure access to more than one gigawatt of computing capacity and up to one million TPU chips starting in 2026, further reinforcing its long-term AI development plans.
