Alveo and AgriNerds Build AI System for Bird Flu Surveillance on Poultry Farms
Alveo Technologies and AgriNerds have partnered to combine rapid avian influenza testing with AI based risk modeling for U.S. poultry farms, the companies announced in a press release. The system links Alveo's on farm molecular test with AgriNerds' Waterfowl Alert Network, which creates daily HPAI risk scores from satellite imagery, weather radar, telemetry, remote sensing, and surveillance data.
AgriNerds' platform uses AI pattern recognition software to detect migratory bird movements and send risk scores to farmers. When risk rises, farms can run Alveo's molecular test for asymptomatic surveillance, with results in under an hour.
The companies said the approach is intended to support targeted testing instead of testing only after flu like symptoms appear or running periodic blind surveillance. Alveo and AgriNerds also plan to use positive and negative test data across regions and seasons to improve risk alerts and testing guidance over time.
