Connected Nation Internet Exchange Points and Wichita State University hosted a summit to discuss AI and broadband infrastructure in Kansas.

Connected Nation Internet Exchange Points, in collaboration with Wichita State University, hosted a groundbreaking technology summit earlier this month. Announced in a press release, the event titled "An AI Interconnection Summit: Network Infrastructure for AI Leadership in Kansas and Beyond" focused on the essential interconnection infrastructure needed to enhance broadband network performance and support AI development.

The summit, held on WSU's Innovation campus, brought together experts in internet infrastructure to explore how Kansas and the broader U.S. can lead in the AI economy. Tom Ferree, Chairman & CEO of Connected Nation, emphasized the importance of the new internet exchange point at Wichita State University, which is set to be completed by spring 2026. This facility aims to provide low-latency, high-capacity interconnection, crucial for advancing the National AI Action Plan.

Wichita Mayor Lily Wu highlighted the significance of the new infrastructure, stating it offers Wichita a unique advantage with a powerful, neutral digital interconnection hub. This development promises faster, more reliable internet, reduced latency, and cost-effective data movement, all vital for AI innovation. The summit underscored the replicable model of IXP infrastructure for communities aiming to compete in an AI-driven future.
