Agility Robotics has opened a new 60,000 square foot facility in Fremont, California to accelerate AI development for its humanoid robot, Digit. The site will serve as the company's software and capabilities hub and employ around 200 staff.

Agility Robotics has opened a new 60,000 square foot facility in Fremont, California, according to a press release. The site will focus on advancing AI technologies that enable its humanoid robot, Digit, to learn new tasks and operate in customer environments.

The Fremont location will serve as Agility's main software and capabilities hub, where engineers will train, test, and refine the AI systems behind Digit. Around 200 employees across hardware engineering, software development, and field operations will work at the facility to enhance the robot's capabilities and safety in workplace settings.

The new facility complements Agility's RoboFab manufacturing site in Salem, Oregon, and positions the company closer to the AI talent and innovation network of Silicon Valley. CEO Peggy Johnson stated that this location will help Agility accelerate the development and deployment of new features for Digit in enterprise use cases.

Agility currently has commercial deployments with Schaeffler, GXO, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, and Mercado Libre. The company has secured more than 300 million dollars in multi-year orders for its Digit v5 robot, with over 30 customers in its pipeline. The Fremont facility is part of Agility's preparation to meet growing demand and to expand its operations ahead of its planned public listing through a merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI.
