Afresh has secured $34 million in new funding to expand its AI platform for grocery operations, supporting wider deployment and continued investment in its technology designed to reduce waste and improve margins.

Afresh has raised $34 million in new funding to accelerate the expansion of its AI platform across the grocery industry, announced in a press release. The round was co-led by Just Climate and High Sage Ventures, with participation from existing investors.

Afresh’s platform provides intelligence for decisions across the grocery supply chain, including store ordering and distribution center purchasing. It was built specifically for fresh food, where shelf life is short, demand fluctuates, and data is often incomplete. The company has since extended its system to support other categories such as frozen and general merchandise.

The platform is currently used in more than 12,500 departments across 40 states, partnering with major retailers including Albertsons Companies, Meijer, and Wakefern. Afresh reports that its technology has helped retailers achieve up to a 25 percent reduction in shrink, a 3 percent increase in sales, and a 7 percent improvement in inventory turns.

The new funding will be used to expand deployment with retail partners and to continue advancing Afresh’s AI capabilities for grocery operations.
