April 28, 2026
Actian, the data and AI division of HCLSoftware, has launched VectorAI DB, a portable vector database designed for use across edge, on-premises, and cloud systems. The database achieves over 22 times faster vector search performance than leading open-source alternatives and supports compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001, and SOC 2 Type II.

Actian, the data and AI division of HCLSoftware, announced in a press release the launch of Actian VectorAI DB, a portable vector database designed for production AI across edge, on-premises, and cloud environments.

Actian VectorAI DB recorded over 22 times faster throughput than leading open-source vector databases in benchmark testing using 10 million vectors. The system supports local, low-latency vector search and can be deployed on embedded and resource-constrained devices such as NVIDIA Jetson and Raspberry Pi, as well as in enterprise data centers and cloud instances.

The database is built for regulated industries that require strict data sovereignty and compliance. It includes AES-256 encryption, customer-managed API keys, and supports configurations aligned with HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001, and SOC 2 Type II standards. It also embeds multimodal data, including text, images, audio, video, and documents.

Actian VectorAI DB is available now, with a 30-day free trial and a free Community Edition for developers.
