1Password Launches Unified Access Platform for AI Agent Security
Toronto-based 1Password has launched Unified Access, a new platform that helps organizations securely deploy AI agents and automated workflows, announced in a press release. The platform allows companies to discover, secure, and audit access across human, machine, and AI agent identities, with its Unified Access Pro version now generally available.
Unified Access is designed to help security teams identify exposed credentials, govern access, and maintain audit trails for actions taken by both human and AI systems. At launch, the platform provides capabilities for discovering AI tools and agent activity, securing credentials with centralized vaulting, and auditing access events. A forthcoming feature will enable scoped credentials for agents and machine workloads at runtime.
1Password is collaborating with several partners in the AI and developer ecosystem, including Anthropic, OpenAI, Cursor, GitHub, Vercel, and Perplexity. These integrations enable secure credential management within AI agents, browsers, and developer environments. For example, Anthropic’s Claude tools will use 1Password to autofill vault items securely, while GitHub and Vercel integrations will help developers manage credentials across CI/CD pipelines and IDEs.
The company plans to expand Unified Access later in the year to strengthen governance as enterprises scale AI-driven automation.
