1Password and Anthropic Introduce Secure Credential Integration for Claude AI

1Password has partnered with Anthropic to launch 1Password for Claude, a system that lets Claude AI use credentials during browser tasks without exposing sensitive information. The integration, available first on Mac, uses biometric approval and direct credential injection to maintain security.

1Password has partnered with Anthropic to launch a secure integration that allows Claude AI to perform web tasks using stored credentials without revealing them to the model, according to Thurrott. The new offering, called 1Password for Claude, is available first on Mac.

In a company blog post, 1Password described the system as built on a zero-exposure architecture. When Claude attempts to log in to a site, 1Password shows the user which credential is being requested and why. Users grant access through biometric confirmation, after which the credential is injected directly into the webpage. The AI never receives or stores the password or code. Access is limited to the specific task and cleared after completion.

The integration also introduces a new browser feature called Agentic Mode. This mode secures 1Password vaults when AI agents interact with browser sessions, ensuring the agent only accesses credentials approved for a specific task. Other vault items remain inaccessible.

1Password for Claude is now available on Mac for individual, family, and business users. The setup requires the 1Password desktop app, the browser extension, the Claude desktop app, and the Claude browser extension.
