Volkswagen Plans €1 Billion AI Investment by 2030
Volkswagen has announced plans to invest up to €1 billion in artificial intelligence (AI) by 2030. This investment will focus on AI-supported vehicle development, industrial applications, and the expansion of high-performance IT infrastructure. The company aims to accelerate the development of new vehicle models and technologies, making them available to customers more quickly.
Volkswagen expects that the consistent use of AI will lead to efficiency gains and cost avoidance opportunities of up to €4 billion by 2035. Currently, the company employs over 1,200 AI applications across its operations, with several hundred more in development or nearing implementation.
The investment will also support the expansion of Volkswagen's digital infrastructure in Europe, enhancing its resilience against external risks. The company is committed to integrating AI across its entire value chain, from vehicle development to production, to improve speed, quality, and competitiveness.
