Oct 1, 2026
A Digitail and AAHA survey of 1,730 veterinary professionals found that AI use rose from 39.2 percent in 2024 to 83.7 percent in 2026.

Digitail and AAHA said in a press release that AI use among veterinary professionals reached 83.7 percent in 2026, up from 39.2 percent in 2024. The study collected responses from 1,730 veterinary professionals in the United States and Canada from July 27 to August 12.

Among respondents who use AI, 88.3 percent use it daily or weekly. Clinical documentation was the most common application, used by 62.8 percent, while most respondents used AI in at least three areas.

The study found that 65.2 percent of practices added AI without making significant workflow changes. Nearly half lacked an AI strategy or designated owner, while almost one third had no governance process.

Practices with the highest maturity scores reported six times the business outcomes of those with the lowest scores. The index assessed strategy, governance, vendor evaluation, workflow integration, adoption depth, and staff readiness.
