Tencent Cloud EdgeOne Adds Free AI Crawler Control for Developers

Tencent's Cloud EdgeOne has released new free features to help developers manage AI-driven scraping and automated traffic, announced in a press release. The Basic Bot Management capabilities, now available to all users including those on the Free Plan, introduce AI Crawler Control and a CAPTCHA Page tool.

The AI Crawler Control feature uses advanced User-Agent recognition to identify and manage mainstream AI bots such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and Google-Extended. Developers can configure actions like monitoring, blocking, allowing, or challenging crawler traffic directly from the EdgeOne console, without needing custom scripts.

The CAPTCHA Page function adds another layer of protection by detecting suspicious automated behavior and triggering human verification. This aims to prevent automated attacks and data scraping without affecting legitimate user experience.

According to Tencent, the update enables developers to better protect their content and infrastructure costs while maintaining flexibility in managing AI-related web traffic. The new tools are available now through the EdgeOne console.
