The Series B financing will support a Phase 1 trial of a treatment for rare genetic forms of obesity by the end of 2026.

Superluminal Medicines has closed an oversubscribed $60 million Series B financing, the company announced in a press release. The round was led by BVF Partners, with participation from Deep Track Capital, Perceptive Advisors and existing investors including RA Capital Management, Insight Partners, NVIDIA and Eli Lilly and Company.

The funding will support a Phase 1 clinical trial by the end of 2026 for Superluminal's lead program, a selective MC4R agonist for rare genetic forms of obesity and hypothalamic obesity. The company said the drug selectively activates signaling pathways associated with therapeutic effects while limiting side effects.

Superluminal will also use the capital to advance other programs and expand its GPCR discovery platform for endocrine and cardiometabolic diseases. The platform combines structural biology, cryo electron microscopy, small molecule design, predictive toxicity models, machine learning and GPCR biophysics.
