Starbucks Introduces AI Assistant for Baristas
Starbucks has introduced a new AI-powered assistant named 'Green Dot Assist' to help baristas improve customer service by simplifying their tasks. The tool, developed in collaboration with Microsoft Corporation using the Azure OpenAI platform, was announced at the Leadership Experience 2025 event in Las Vegas. The AI assistant is designed to provide quick solutions for baristas, allowing them to focus more on making coffee and interacting with customers.
The 'Green Dot Assist' will initially be piloted in 35 stores, with plans for a broader rollout across the U.S. and Canada in fiscal year 2026. Baristas will use in-store iPads to access the assistant, which offers real-time answers for shift planning, coaching, and troubleshooting, among other tasks. This initiative is part of Starbucks' strategy to streamline operations and enhance the partner and customer experience.
Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol emphasized the company's commitment to leveraging technology to boost its brand and sales. The AI assistant is expected to help reduce service times and improve the overall efficiency of Starbucks' operations.
