Sidus Space announced progress on its Fortis Command and Data Handling system, developed with Microchip Technology, to support modular and scalable architectures for space and defense missions.

Sidus Space announced continued progress on its Fortis Command and Data Handling platform, developed in collaboration with Microchip Technology Inc., according to a press release. The modular 3U OpenVPX system is designed for flexible configuration and scalability across space and defense applications.

Fortis supports rapid system development by integrating Microchip's space grade and defense grade technologies, including PolarFire FPGAs, processors, precision timing modules, and networking components. The system aligns with Sensor Open System Architecture and Modular Open Systems Approach standards, enabling use in space, airborne, maritime, and terrestrial missions.

The platform incorporates insights from three Sidus designed and operated LizzieSat missions to improve data throughput and multi sensor integration. Fortis also includes single board computer and positioning, navigation, and timing modules for secure, high throughput processing in contested or remote environments.
