Sea Ltd Plans Cloud Business and Reviews Monee Listing
Sea Ltd plans to enter the cloud computing market through a new division called Sea Cloud, Bloomberg reported, according to Seeking Alpha. Chief Executive Forrest Li outlined the plan in an internal memo and said the division will provide cloud services to businesses worldwide.
Sea spent two years rebuilding its internal cloud infrastructure to support artificial intelligence applications. The company now plans to offer that infrastructure to external customers, putting Sea Cloud in competition with providers including Amazon Web Services and Alibaba Cloud.
Sea is also reviewing a possible separation and stock market listing for Monee, its financial services business. A separate listing could provide Monee with additional capital and operational independence, according to the internal memo.
