SciBase Secures First US Insurance Coverage for Nevisense

Oct 15, 2026
SciBase secured its first medical policy from a private US insurer covering the use of Nevisense to assess certain suspicious skin lesions.

SciBase said in a press release that it secured its first medical policy from a private US insurer covering Nevisense. The policy classifies electrical impedance spectroscopy as medically necessary when a dermatologist is evaluating certain suspicious pigmented lesions and considering a biopsy.

Coverage applies when melanoma is among the possible diagnoses and the lesion is on the trunk or extremities, measures 2 mm to 20 mm, and meets other clinical criteria. Patients must be at least 18, while the device must have FDA approval and be used by a dermatologist trained to assess pigmented lesions.

The procedure is reported under CPT code 0658T. Nevisense combines AI with electrical impedance spectroscopy to provide an assessment that can support skin cancer diagnosis.
