Ames-based Sabanto has closed an oversubscribed Series B funding round led by Leaps by Bayer to expand its autonomous retrofit technology for row crop farming across North America.

Sabanto has raised an oversubscribed Series B funding round led by Leaps by Bayer, announced in a press release. The round also included participation from Sustainable Forward Capital, InnoVenture Iowa, Fulcrum Global Capital, DCVC, and Yara.

The new capital will support commercialization and scaling of Sabanto’s autonomous retrofit kits for row crop farming across North America. The company plans to expand its dealer network, increase retrofit kit production, and add more customers, targeting hundreds of new farms over the next year.

Sabanto’s retrofit technology enables smaller tractors to operate autonomously during planting and field operations, allowing extended work hours and reducing labor requirements. The platform is compatible with precision agriculture systems from Precision Planting and DICKEY-john, providing automated planting and input management.

According to the announcement, the investment will also fund continued software development and expanded field support to accelerate adoption of autonomous equipment. The retrofit approach allows farmers to improve efficiency and lower equipment costs by converting existing machinery for autonomous operation.
